Previously in my ‘I Will Show You How to Make Money Online‘ post, I promised to show those (likely few) interested in how to go about making some cash online. This is my first ‘official’ post of my ‘Making Passive Income Online’ series.

Ok. Let’s assume a couple things here:

*Your a single mom.

*You have a limited income.

*You have ambition for better things.

*You have (some) spare time.

*Due to budget and / or time, going back to school is out of the question.

*Your’re stuck with a low-paying job or no job at all.

Basically, life is hard and you have no money. But we know that already. The more important question we need to ask is ‘what can you to make some extra money to change your situation?”

Well, what if I told you it’s possible to make money online by creating an online website business.

(Before you run away screaming, let me explain)

Making Money Online: What Does This Mean?

Making money online is an incredibly broad term and can cover a number of different categories. Anything that involves reaching out over the internet and getting paid for it technically counts as ‘making money.’ However, there are a number of established ‘online jobs’ where you work for yourself on your computer, from your home.

(note, making money online is not the same as becoming a freelancer. If you want to be a freelancer, we recommend you look at our ‘how to become a article freelancer and earn $1000 a month). Freelancing articles is a great way to make cash online, work from home, and be your own boss. But it’s like any other job in that you are paid for your time. If you don’t work, you don’t get paid. You also (especially at the start), can end up working some real soul-sucking writing jobs that destroy any creativity

Generally, when we talk about making money online through websites, we are talking about one of the following categories:

  • Internet Marketer: a digital salesperson with the medium of sales being through the internet (usually a website, but not always). Internet Marking is such a broad term and can really include many things.
  • Lifestyle Blogger: blog about a specific lifestyle topic, gain an audience who view you as an authority of some sort or who ‘dig’ your writing, and then monetize your traffic.
  • Niche Marketing: similar to the internet marketer, but more narrow in focus. The goal is to create a website (or websites) about a narrow topic (combat knives, camcorders, kitchen equipment, gardening tools, electric shavers, etc) that offers information or services to people looking for them. And you monetize that website in some way (amazon, advertising, adsense, digital product, e commerce store, online membership site, etc).
  • Search Engine Optimization: you basically work on helping rank websites in Google. Higher ranking for keywords means targeted organic search traffic. Organic traffic means you can start to make (some) money.

There are more categories if we want to really break things down, but most people making money online from a website fall into one of these categories.

Note, we are not just looking to make money online, but to make money online passively.

Making money online and making money online PASSIVELY are two different things completely; one is far superior to the other.

Can you guess which?

You can do all manner of jobs ‘online’ and get paid for your work directly (freelance writing, SEO work, social media work, filling out paid surveys, etc). However, making PASSIVE INCOME  online is a different story — passive income pays you even when you are NOT actively working.

That is, you are not on a wage clock.

You take a day off from work: you still make money

You take a month off from work: you still make money

You don’t work at all: you still make money

Get it?

Passive income PAYS you even when you are not directly working.

And THIS is what you should be aiming for, if you want to make money online.

I don’t need to go into all the million and one reasons WHY making money while not working is a good thing. But I’ll give you one reasons anyways: as a single mom, that mean means you can spend a lot more time with your kids. And that ladies, is a good thing. My mom, who did NOT have this opportunity, spent 12-15 hours a day working WHILE raising 4 kids. You ladies have a different option ahead.

(But only if you put in the work first)

Passive Income online sounds like a dream. An unobtainable dream that seems straight from some late night infomercial promising you the world but delivering only words.

Except that it’s not. Because, I’m making passive money online.

I’ve been doing it for over five years.

Making a full time income.

And you can too.

I can’t give all the moms coming here who send me desperate emails asking for financial help, who ask for money to pay their overdue rent, for a money to fix a car. I simply am unable to provide this sort of help to all of you. And giving direct assistance doesn’t solve the fundamental problem: you need to be self sustaining.

But what I can try to do here on is give you ladies the tools and specific training on how to make some money online so, IF YOU CHOOSE TO, and you PUT IN THE WORK, you can perhaps make a difference in your life.

Give a woman some bread, and she can eat for a day.

But teach a woman how to make bread and grow the ingredients, and she can eat for life.

Do you hear what I’m saying ladies?

It might take a while, it might take months, it might take a few years to make an online income, but you’ll end up with a set of skills you can use to make a difference in your life. And in the lives of your family.

Or not — it’s all up to you.

So take responsibility for your life and change it.

can you make money online from home

I’ll provide the information, the coaching, the tips. I’ll show you examples and proof. I’ll lead you guys on the journey.

But you are the one who has to do the walking.

Ok, enough pep talk.

Let’s talk Making Some Money.

Passive Income Through Niche Websites

make money with niche sites

There are a number of different business models that you can pursue online to develop a passive income stream. Some are better than others and some potentially can pay you more.

All require some serious work, time, and to be honest, luck. But with the proper research (I will show you how) on our part, we can ‘make our own luck’ a lot stronger.

I’m going to show you the easiest method. The method I’ve been doing since 2009. The method I used to quite my job and work from home.

And that method is building Niche Websites, developing natural traffic from Google (and elsewhere), then monetizing those websites.

Once you find a Niche and start working on it, you can develop that Niche website into something that offers some real value to people. And like a fruit tree seed you plant, it will grow with time and produce something you can eat. How big the fruit is and how many it produces you might not know until the tree grows up. But you’ve got to plant the seed first to produce anything at all.

Why Niche Websites?

Because, you can create a website, work on it in your spare time and possibly  find financial independence.

I feel creating niche websites is easiest path for people looking to making a passive income online — there’s very little cost (other than your time), and you can work as much or as little as you want (hint: working MORE helps your chances though).

You also don’t have to be too technical (the tech stuff, I will show you how) and you have to be willing to put in the effort and time. Being a good writer helps — if you are not, well, it’s something you can work on and get better at. The main thing here is you have to start.

Will I Make Money For Sure?

There are no guarantees here.

If you do your research right, are willing to put the work in and get your hands a bit dirty, you have a real interest in the topic you are writing about (this is pretty KEY — don’t make website about something you absolute hate or care nothing about), you can make something happen.

Maybe you will make no money (at first), maybe you will make a little bit, or maybe you will make a lot — I can’t promise you anything specific — but what I can guarantee you is that if you don’t start, you won’t make anything at all.

You’ve got to play the game to win the game folks and what I can do here is teach you the rules of the game. The rest is up to you.

What Do I Need to Start Making Niche Websites?

 A computer with internet access

Yep, that’s about it. As long as you have a computer with internet, you can start. Now you will need some way to buy hosting. And you will need to buy a domain name. Both are only a couple dollars though, but you’ll need a credit card or have a paypal account — some way of getting these services.

How to Start Making Niche Websites

We need to first talk keyword research, the most important part of building niche websites. We’ll start with this topic in  detail the next post.

It All Starts with Keyword Research

Pretty much any niche website (and niche websites can grow into very big websites too) starts with keyword research.

Keyword Research = finding the (best) topics to make a website about

Topics can be about anything — very broad  topics to very specific topics. For example ‘Dogs’ is a very broad topic. It can relate to anything about ‘dogs.’ ‘Dog Food’ is still broad, but a bit more narrow and focused. For websites, we need to have a specific focus. The more focused, the better the chance you have of making money from that topic.

Let’s look at some examples:

Topics and Keywords are related. Keywords are Topics, and Topics are Keywords, but keywords are essentially a topic you type into Google Search.

Specifically, we are going to be targeting ‘keywords’ that people are likely to type into Google search. Ultimately, we want a website we have created about that topic/keyword to show up on the first page (ideally as number 1) on the Google search.

(if a website shows up high on a Google search, people are likely to click on it)

For example, say you are looking for some specific information. You (like most people), go to and type in ‘Dog Food for Pit Bulls’.

A list of websites pop up on the first page. You are likely to scan through and pick out one of the top 5 results — especially if the title of your search shows up IN the title of the results.

If you don’t do keyword research, you will in all probability make a website about a topic that is simply too competitive to rank in Google for (terminology here for ‘there are so many other websites about the same exact topic, you won’t be able to stand out and get traffic from google without a lot of very long and hard work).

You cold also make a fantastic website about a fantastic topic that has absolutely no possibility to monetize or make money form.

Keyword Research lets us sort though all the possible topics out there and come up with some good candidates. With the right online tools (I will show you these), you can guesstimate how much traffic that keyword has, how commercial that topic is (i.e. are people spending money), and how easy it will be to make your website about that topic rank on the first page.

More on this next post.

Final Word

I’ve introduced the topic of making passive income online through niche websites and introduced the the topic of Keyword Research, which the first thing you do before creating a website.

Still confused? Don’t know what the hell I’m going on about.

(I was too when I first started)

Don’t worry, keep following along and it will all make sense. The next article will clarify things more.

We’ll talk specifically about Keyword Research, what it is. Go to our next post in this series, Keyword Research: Finding a Profitable Niche
