Financial assistance during recovery from upcoming back surgery ?

I am a single mother of one teenage daughter who is a sophomore in high school. I am in dire need of finding some type of financial assistance for my household while I recover from an upcoming back surgery. It will be scheduled the week of October 10 and will be missing at least one full month of work, possibly two. My job is a seasonal job at a golf course and my income is mainly tips I receive while working on the beverage cart. I will need to cover my rent, electric, water, cable and telephone bill along with groceries. Is there anywhere I could find such a thing or am I just 'dreaming'?

Stephanie
I hope you contacted your local DSHS office they would have been able to help you with assistance during your recovery.

I hope that your surgery went well and you are well on to your recovery.

I am a single Mom of three two teens and a toddler.

I would love to talk to and watch a thirty minute overview of the company I work with, it is not a MLM and offers a "REAL" istic revenue sharing program, we have been in business for 29yrs and have the highest rating with the BBB...all our products are everyday use products and are less expensive, better quality and made in USA....

Call Me @ 360-477-1194 Stephanie, just to see if it makes sense to you ?

Merry Christmas Bobbi

Hi Bobbi. Here are a few options you *might* look at.

If your income is low enough to qualify, you might look into Medicaid to see if you qualify for some coverage.

You might look into Supplemental Security Income (ssi). Basically, if you qualify (low income, few assets) and only recieve 1.00 in benefits (your assets, car, and bank account are looked at), you will qualify for medicaid automatically.

Social Security Disability Benefits. The deal with this (from what I last heard), is that you can't work for 12 months which includes part time too. You have to have medical documentation to prove you are unable to work/are disabled. This might be your best option.

I also recommend you visit a women's shelter and consult one of the care workers -- they will have a good grasp of the current financial assistance programs you might be eligable for. You should also see what state assistance (if any) programs might be offered.

well this is a tricky one. You can not work at all for 12 months, not even part-time. Have medical documentation to prove this. (But you can work earning a limited income after your approved and receive your first check. Now try to figure this one out.)
